BAC Junior Racquetball Players Hollie Scott and Jake Birnel represented not only BAC and the state of Washington, but also the United States at the Junior World Racquetball Championships in the Dominican Republic in November.
Hollie qualified with partner Lexie York of Oregon to play in the Girls 18 and under Gold Division, earning a 2nd place seed. They lost in the quarter finals to a tough team from Mexico, with a heartbreaking 11-10 tiebreaker match.
Jake teamed up with Sam Bredenbach at the USA Junior Nationals to take 1st place and move on to the World Championships, playing qualifying rounds and earning a 2nd place seed in the final round of 8 teams. He and his partner fought through to the finals, losing a tough match to Mexico to claim 2nd place at Worlds.
Both Hollie and Jake had a great experience and both will attempt to qualify once again at Junior Nationals next year so that they can compete at Junior Worlds in 2016. Both hope to earn a berth in both singles and doubles and continue to practice and improve their games.
Congrats to both of you!
