The 44th Annual Northwest Open is now under our belts and we can count it as another success! We had 110 participants this year. Although the number was lower than normal we still hold the title for biggest tournament in Washington State. Out of the 110 participants, 61 of them were nonmembers and came from out of town, even out of state to participate. I am beyond thankful for all of our participants, sponsors and club employees that helped throughout the weekend. Without all of them, this event would not be possible. One of our sponsors, Don & Carolyn Cummins of Elite Electrical and long time members of BAC have sponsored this tournament for many years; this being their last. Thank you for being such a loyal part of the BAC racquetball community. Other sponsors include, Kelli Holz of Holz Racing Product, Tim Goering of Waddell & Reed and Rod & Tina Jackson of Industrial Supply Inc. We appreciate each and every one of you!
Taylor Knoth of Milwaukie, OR took first place in Men’s Open singles. To defend his title he took on racquetball hall of famer, Jimmy Lowe of Hawaii and beat him in two games. BAC favorite, Jake Birnel and Jimmy Lowe took first in Men’s Open Doubles, defeating Bellingham Locals, Taylor Disch and Tracy Drury. In the final ‘money event’ of the tournament, Mixed Open Doubles, Club Pro Wanda Collins and her partner, Vince Kitely defeated Hollie Scott and Rocco Vega.
We had a great weekend, full of energy, fun, & great racquetball!
