When it comes to training, Pro Triathlete David pursues the highest level possible. David started running and racing with his dad at the age of 10. David was on the varsity tennis, track, and cross-country teams in high school. He started biking his senior year of high school and quickly picked up swimming when he became a lifeguard around the same time. He found early success as a multi-sport athlete and began to compete in triathlons after he graduated from Decatur High School. At Highline Community College, he ran cross country and track earning All-American honors in track and MVP award for cross-country. Then David moved to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University. There, he gained more knowledge about fitness and endurance training in the exercise science department. At WWU, David was on the varsity cross country team and the WWU cycling team. David continues to place in the top 1% at the large triathlon and running races. He has raced locally and across the nation for 14 years. David earned his Pro-Elite Triathlete status spring of 2007 and is sponsored by RunningShoes.com. David graduated from WWU March 2008 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. He received his ACE personal training certification in January 2008. David is now eager to help train people, especially those who want to get in shape to do a local race. On August 31st, 2008 David married his wife Katy who is also an avid endurance runner. This fall, David is going to Whatcom Community College to pursue massage therapy and then continue on to become a Physical Therapy Assistant the following year. He is also studying for his CSCS personal training certification. |
